Over 15 MILLION people in the world live in or nearby and make their living from a trash dump.  Among thousands of trash dump communities is one in the community of Danli Honduras.  Everyday there are flies, foul smells, vultures, stray dogs, toxic smoke, trash and people struggling to survive, without a rescue mission, food bank or government assistance to help.  One person who visited from the USA said this after visiting the trash dump:

I haven’t had words to put to what I experienced that day. It broke my heart. I still haven’t had time to truly process what I witnessed. To watch people sift through trash while mules and buzzards pick through the trash. I don’t have words.”

Does the good news of Jesus hold true in a trash dump, are the promises of God for these people also? Or are His promises only valid in a first world country? Does the Father really raise the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the garbage heap (Psalms 113:7)?

We believe so
