A mother’s dream become a reality
During our first work trip to the community, we were touched by a simple yet heartfelt gesture from Lesly, a young lady who had recently graduated from high school. While we were repairing the roof of her house, she offered us bread and water, making her the only person to extend hospitality to us on that initial visit. In our conversations, Lesly shared her dream of becoming a nurse, a passion she reiterated when we saw her our next trip to the community. Community members spoke highly of her intelligence, and her dream struck a chord with us.
After prayerful consideration, we approached Lesly with a proposal: we would support her journey to nursing school if she committed to working in a future community clinic—an idea that was just beginning to take shape at the time. Lesly accepted, and soon she was enrolled in nursing school at Danlí CAE. Remarkably, the month after she started, we held the community’s first medical clinic, where Lesly was able to serve right away.
We later learned that Lesly’s mother also dreamed of becoming a nurse and had encouraged her daughter to pray that Jesus would help her achieve this goal. Lesly graduated from nursing school in November 2025 as the top student of her class. Seeing how Jesus has opened this door for her to serve her community as a nurse is a wonderful gift.
