New Playground

Shortly after becoming a Christian in college, I came across Zechariah 8:4-5:

“The Lord of armies says this: ‘Old men and old women will again sit in the public squares of Jerusalem, each person with his staff in his hand because of age. And the public squares of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in its squares.’”

I’m very happy to share that we’ve now completed the first of two planned playgrounds in our community. This one is located on our property where the water well is. Thanks to our connection with Donovan and Chelsey, we were able to partner with a Honduran craftsman who builds steel playgrounds. He and his team recently completed this sturdy playground, and I’m told that the joyful sounds of children playing can often be heard there.

The importance of a playground became clear during a conversation with a father from the community. He shared that, since he was eight years old, he always had to work or care for his younger siblings, and he never had the chance to play as a child. He thought it would be wonderful for us to build a playground so the children in the community could have a different experience—a chance to play freely, something he never had.

Our plan is to build the second, much larger playground at our new property in the middle of the community.  Hopefully that will be ready in February next year.

Thank you for your care and support for this community. More Pictures : Facebook
