Finish the Water Project

Danli Honduras Update
12 November 2023

We are now able to travel back to Honduras in two weeks. My parents require much more help now, so I have been unable to travel. I am thankful we have two young ladies, Jenny and Tamara, who will stay with my parents while I am gone.

We are going to complete the water system for the community. The well was drilled back in May by Pozos para Todos, and last month the good folks at Primero Agua – Water First kindly installed a solar pump in the well. We had the water tested, and other than E Coli from some cattle the water tested acceptable per US water standards. Pretty amazing given the well is less than 800 feet from the actual trash dump! We will finish the system by installing water tanks, additional solar power and a water purifier to kill the E Coli. Given the nature of the electrical infrastructure within the community, solar power is a better option to power the system. Once the system is operational the community will be operating and managing the system. The community’s current water system runs dry during the dry season, making life much more difficult for the community. With this water system we anticipate the community will have clean drinking water available to them throughout the year including the dry season. As usual, we will employ people from the community to help José and I construct the system.

Additionally, we will bring school supplies for the teachers and the students for next year’s school year and will purchase additional medicine for the medical clinic. I am sure we will be very busy when we are there and there will be many other opportunities to help the community. Mostly I look forward to be together with the community I have grown so fond of. We appreciate everyone’s prayers that we will be a blessing both to heaven and the community. Thank you!
