Danli Honduras Update
21 August 2023

I am grateful for many life lessons I have learned from others. One such lesson is how beautiful it is to partner together with others, and from His Word God Himself enjoys it when we are working together. One of our goals in the community is to create employment/learning opportunities for people in the community. A number of months ago I sensed we should talk with the welder, Naptali, who has worked with us on the school. We contacted him and asked if he was interested in hiring one of the men from the community to train him to weld and work in his shop and we would pay the man’s salary. Naptali agreed, as he saw it as an opportunity to help the community and he would get free help. José and I discussed who we should pick to work with Naptali, we selected one individual who said he was interested in this opportunity, but on the day he was to start working he did not show up and later expressed his desire to continue recycling in the trash dump. José and I selected a second individual, José talked with him and he said he would like this opportunity, but once again he did not show up for work. José and I thought both of these young men were good candidates to work there (and had expressed a desire to do so), but they did not show up. To pick the next individual, José and I decided to pray together and asked Jesus to bring the right person to us (I know, why not do that at first you ask, good question) After more prayer, we sensed José should just announce the opportunity at the community medical clinic and see what happens. The day after the medical clinic José and I received a message from José Carlos, a young man in the community, who said he would like this opportunity. And yes, the next day José Carlos was at Naptali’s shop working. Naptali has sent me a couple of messages that José Carlos is a humble person and is working well. Welding is a great profession for a young man in Honduras, and hopefully José Carlos will take full advantage of this situation. And we appreciate Naptali’s willingness to bring José Carlos on and help him.

José visited with José Carlos a couple of days ago, and provided him with the necessary personal protection equipment to be a welder. Afterwards José sent me the following message : “Jose carlos he is excited with everything you gave to him he gave the testimony last week in church about his life he said he wanted a work where he can get money to buy food and the same time can to learn the trade and he say God did him he said God pleased him he feel very very happy happy with the shoes i say him is for work everyday are strong shoes. Thank my brother i say the same God to join to help this humble families my heart is filled with joy to see jose carlos happy with everything is like when you give a new toys to some kid he was touching his shoes and he say thank i feel blessing”

Thank you for blessing this community. Is humbling to see the hand of God working on their behalf.
