The new classroom is complete

The new classroom in the community school is complete and in use! Thank you for your prayers that this work would be finished before the new school year in Honduras, which began this week in Danli. The structure was complete last week, now just needs some finishing touches. Now all the teachers and students at the school will be inside out of the elements. And all the students now have a good student desk to sit at. The teachers had collected money from the parents to pay for repairing the broken desks, we matched their funds and a local workshop repaired the desks. As I mentioned in a previous email, it was the community that requested the new classroom for their children, and they backed their request with many hours of work. All the workers were from the community except those skillsets and/or equipment were not available within the community. If my memory serves me correctly, the community had a quote of over $10,000 for an outside contractor to build the classroom, however, with the approach the community took it cost sweat equity from the community and $6,500 for the classroom. Pictures of the classroom construction are available at https://danlitrashcommunity.com/new-classroom/
Our brother José went to Danli once a week to encourage the work and help resolve any issues, his help was invaluable. He is now making the shelves for books and school supplies. Marleny coordinated with all the different workers/contractors to get supplies and work accomplished in a timely fashion and paid everyone. Many Hondurans and others have told me it is very difficult to find people you can trust and yet the Father has connected us with these two and others – truly a blessing.
We are also starting a medical clinic in the community in March, we will house the clinic in the new classroom. We are going to utilize the school for all we can to bless the community. Will send more information about the clinic in another update.
