We will be headed back to Honduras 9 June to work in the Danli trash dump for 5 weeks. As always I will be with my friend and brother José Nuñéz and supported by his wife Maylin and son Joseph. While working there in the trash dump we will hire people from the trash dump to work with us. Our work once again will be a collaborative effort, our aim is to always work with the people there, to understand their needs and wants and work together.
We will continue the work of reroofing houses and we will also repair water cisterns. Towards the end of our work in January this year, many residents told us about their leaking water cisterns. Each home has a water cistern to store water for drinking, bathing, washing clothes and dishes. Public water is only available once a week, therefore it is necessary for each family to store water. Unfortunately, many families said they had leaks in their water cisterns, and the cost to fix (less than $5) is about the same amount a family earns in a day, so they learn to live with the leak. Hopefully when we leave in July the leaks will be fixed.
